[astrostudents] Re: dharmi tewa

Dear Members,

While following the very interesting debate about Dharmi Tewa, I came to think about the many cases when a Dharmi Tewa gets combined with one or more of the other four types of Tewas like, f.ex. Andhey Tewa (Blind chart) or Nabalig Tewa (Adolescent/Non-adult chart), etc., meaning when two or more types of combinations are available in the same horoscope. This give rise to a number of different variations. This way obviously Dharmi Tewas comes in all sizes and shapes, and a number of very interesting observations can be made. In this context I couldn't help remembering Example No. 17 from the chapter about Annual predictions in LK-1952, because this chart has some very interesting combined Tewa-types.

Example No. 17 is the horoscope of a male person of Scorpio-Asc with Moon & Mars in 2nd, Ketu in 4th, Sat in 6th, Rahu in 10th, Jup & Ven in 11th and finally Sun & Merc in the 12th house.

The chart is a wonderful example of exceptions and contradictive influences. No doubt the chart must be considered as a Dharmi Tewa since there is Ketu in 4th and Rahu in 10th, but at the same time the chart also qualifies as both Nabalig Tewa and Andhey Tewa, as I will explain later. I think these different and contradictive influences needs to be taken into account. Therefore a deeper investigation is needed. There is much more in this chart than what meets the eye.

Pundit Ji has given the following very brief but brilliant delineation of the chart, which I will try my best to explain in details, taking it bit by bit:

(Quote:) "Houses built between the age of 17 and 19. Sister born after 3 years. Malefic effect of Mercury til the age of 17. Venus No. 11 - contact with women. Jupiter No. 11 - only airy thoughts and results in Ketu No. 4 - loss of semen. Helplessness will be peaked at the age of 21. Rahu's waves moving in circle of Mercury at 21. Suicidal tendencies and signs of madness. Semen defect remained. Marriage proposal floundered".

Why are houses built between age of 17 and 19 years of this person?

Well, Saturn signifies houses and Saturn is benefic by being in the 6th and having Ketu behind it. Mercury-Saturn combination by itself means favourable property, and Sun-Mercury combination gives excellent results, provided Saturn does not aspect them, which it actually does in this case. Further, with Sun-Mercury combination, for half period of Mercury (17 = half of 34), Mercury will not be able to give its separate effect, and therefore the houses could be built only after the age of 17.

Why is a sister born after 3 years?

As we all know, the first six years of life any horoscope is ruled by Saturn as per the 35-years circulation. Then if Saturn is in the 6th house it aspects the planets in the 2nd house with a malefic effect This is an exception-rule of Lal Kitab. In this case Saturn aspects Mars in the 2nd house thereby preventing Mars to materialize itself in the form of a younger brother.

However, at the same time there is another exception rule in operation in this chart. It is said in Lal Kitab that when Mercury is in the 12th house it aspects any planet in the 6th house. Now since both Mercury and the 6th house indicate sisters, the chart can be said to indicate the birth of a younger sister, rather than a brother, at that particular age.

Then the reading speaks of the Venus-Jupiter combination in the 11th, as indicating contact with women - BUT only airy thoughts, meaning no substantial results like engagement, marriage - This is probably the results of the Venus-Jupiter combination which by itself is said to give false hopes and wishful thinking. Thus resulting in Ketu No. 4 - loos of semen (masturbation?). Perhaps also because there is a 6/8-relationship (Yoga-dristi) between Ketu in the 4th and Venus-Jupiter in the 11th.

Why will helplessness be peaked at the age of 21?

This timing is no doubt related to Rahu, since 21 is half the period of Rahu (21 = half of 42). The helplessness is partly caused by the malefic Rahu in the 10th house and partly by Ketu in the 4th. Rahu is destroyed (malefic) because Jupiter is in the 11th. Further more, Rahu & Ketu in 4th/10th house not only makes a Dharmi Tewa, it also makes a Nabalig Tewa, meaning someone who remain adolescent and lacking in maturity. According to Lal Kitab a person of Nabalig Tewa will always have to seek help/assistance of others, and this helplessness will peak at 21 in this case. It could perhaps be argued that the combination of both Dharmi & Nabalic Tewa in the same chart makes a good disciple but a poor Guru. But that is another discussion.

What does it mean that Rahu's waves are moving in the circle of Mercury at the age of 21 years?

To know this we need to understand the "Modus operandi" of Rahu in the 10th house. It is said in LK that Rahu, Ketu or Mercury in the 10th will move as per dictates of Saturn. If Saturn is benefic, they will be twice beneficial, otherwise, the reverse. In this case Saturn is benefic being in the 6th with Ketu behind it. Yes, but Saturn is actually located in the "Empty Circle of Mercury".

What is the "Empty Circle of Mercury"?

Some may think otherwise, but according to my opinion and experience the "Empty Circle of Mercury" is in the 3rd, 6th, 9th and 12th houses. There are some good arguments in support of this. It is said in LK that Rahu and Ketu move within the Circle of Mercury. This makes sense since they have their exaltations, debilitation and fixed houses in the 3rd, 6th, 9th and 12th houses. Also Mercury is the only planet capable of aspecting from ALL of these house, meaning not only from the 3rd and 6th, like all other planets do, but also from the 9th and 12th (as rules of exceptions). Thus whenever Mercury activates this evil circle it becomes like a House of Maya or a Hall of Mirrors, where you see the illusion of yourself reflected in all kinds of grotesque forms and shapes.

Why the suicidal tendencies and signs of madness?

Well, I think a part of the reason is that Rahu in the 10th is malefic. Another part is no doubt the fact that Rahu's waves, being transmitted through Saturn, are moving within the "Empty Circle of Mercury".

There is however also another possible explanation for this. Earlier I said this chart was not only a Dharmi Tewa but also an Andhey Tewa, meaning a Blind chart, both operating simultaniously. It is said in LK that with a blind chart all planets, incl. Saturn, even if exalted, would behave like the blind people and Sat will be malefic. The powers of sight, discrimination, good judgement all gets badly affected.

But how can this chart be blind when there is only one planet, Rahu,  in the 10th house?

Please notice that Rahu is malefic, and look very carefully at the 12th house, the root of Rahu. The Sun is in the 12th house and therefore there is a conjunction of Rahu and Sun by root. Actually this is all it takes to turn this into a blind chart.

In my opinion the suicidal tendencies and signs of madness are the combined results of a Dharmi Tewa being subject to malefic Rahu, blind chart indication and the "Empty Circle of Mercury".

Finn Wandahl
