Respected Friends, Back when Pt jee was alive, I had the need to do this remedial measure. Because of the kitchen in US having gas/electric stoves, Pt jee had already modified this upaay. He suggested that a seperate tawaa (iron griddle/hotplate) be reserved for this purpose. At the end of the night cooking session, this tawaa should be heated on high heat and some milk should be poured on it (in small quantities) to be "burnt." After the cool down, the left-over "burnt milk" (if any) should to be scraped and collected. After 43 days, the tawaa and the left over burnt milk should be dropped in a river/ocean/ Many remedial measures were thus already modified by Pt jee based on new realities. Pt jee was always interested in knowing how life was changing in modern times so that he could fine-tune Lal Kitab system accordingly, if applicable. Another alternative and very effective measure in lieu of this difficult upaay is to bring home a coin (any coin) offered by someone else from a temple/religious place. I have seen on the net some people making this remedial measure impossible to perform by suggesting that the coin should be a copper coin. That is absolutely NOT necessary. Where does one find copper coins these days? Not at all in India (and rarely in the rest of the world.) Even a currency note will do the trick. It needs to be something that someone else has offered. Coin/Currency notes are the easiest things to bring. My recommendation is to offer a five Rupee note and pick a one Rupee coin/note from the temple. In this context, even getting prasaad from the temple/gurudwara is helpful. That is why prasaad is distributed in temples and they say that one must not refuse to accept the prasaad.
