Dear Mr. Sanjay Tavargen.
You have raised several complex issues in your mail. I will
try to tackle them:
"All the rashi resemble\ correspond to the house characters of a "naisargik kundali" or Kal Purush's Kundali. To state an eg, Vrishabh represents the 2nd house character of "dhana sthana",face, mouth or the earthy characteristic of the artha trikon of 2,6,10 rashi. The second example be, 12th house characteristic attributed to Meena. 12 house for reclusion, hospitality, sleep, charity (vyaya to the native) to Meena rashis character. "
"So can we attribute all characteristics/functionality represented by a particular house to the corresponding sign. Eg, can we safely say that 100% house functionality = the signs, like Capricorn = 10th house, and so on for other sign's vis a vis houses, in one simple
sentence? "
The Answer:
It is not so simple as you made out in your question.
Each sign has his own characteristics , body appearance , positive or negative traits.
If we discuss Aries , the key words will be:
"Enthusiastic, impulsive , independent , pioneering ,but insensitive and excitable"
In books you may study other characteristics. Naksahtra positions do have its own effects.
In Ashwani the human side will be prominent whereas in Bharni , selfishness
will be more prominent feature.
Each sign has mixture of of different nature like Aries is odd, fiery and moveable sign
and first sign of zodiac-thus has a attribute "Me First" and egotist.
On other hand Taurus is even, fixed and earth sign. Thus the typical feature is
endurance.
Thus each sign gives a Bhava (house) , a typical characteristics and attributes.
Each house has a specific significance and purpose in the nativity. The ascending point is most important and the planets joining and departing from each other , the native's good and bad
effects are deduced.
Each house has a specific significances , purpose and inter-relationship.These Bhavas are also given nomenclature according to their properties and indication. Like 1st house represents body, 2nd house is money matters , speech , food including moveable assets , eyes ,etc.
The bhava do not have Characteristics and these are attributed to signs and not to Bhavas.
There three main tools to access a nativity 1. Bhava 2. Signs 3 Planets
There are two methods to judge the nativity 1 Kala-Purusha and 2 Natural
In Kala-Purysha , 1st house is assigned to Aries and 2nd to Taurus and so on.
Thus Aries will represent properties and indication of 1st Bhavas. E.G. Aries will represent
1st house . Thus The lord of this house will become Mars and significtor will be Sun.
This is permanent arrangement.(In some Bhirgu yogas and Lallkitab , this principle
is used .This is a limited and indicative use) .
Signs do not adopt the signification of the house , but adopt properties and indication of the house as per house nomenclature.
The second method is more elaborate and gives very detailed results. In this method Naksahtra and Varga charts play very crucial role.'The Saravalli' , an ancient classic says that no prediction is possible with out understanding the role of Vargas. In this method a sign is
divided in 150 unequal parts , largest being of 30' and smallest is 1'40". The role of
Varga can be understood only if we follow the definition of Bhava according to
BPHS (I am referring 16 Vargs division also as per Parasara) is adopted:
"Maharishi Parasara has precisely explained this concept to his disciple Maitraye in chapter 3, slokas 4, 5 and 6 of BPHS:
"Those, celestial bodies are called the planets (Grahas) that move through the Nakshatras (or asterisms) along the Zodiac (Bhachakra). The Zodiac comprises of 27 asterisms from Aswin to Revati and also divided in 12 equal parts known as signs (Rashis) from Aries to Pisces. The Zodiac sign which contains the rising (ascending) point at the time of Birth is called Lagan (ascendant)". Based on the ascendant and the planets joining and separating from each other, the native's good and bad fortune is deducted".
Parasara has given the concept of Bhavas (houses) along with 12 signs in the above narration. This is called the compartmental system of houses. In this, system the whole sign in which the degree of rising€ scendant falls is considered the first house and subsequent sign as 2nd house and so on. The longitude of the ascending point becomes the most sensitive points of the ascendant i.e.1st house, and the sensitive points of other house will be 30° apart. The sensitive point of 10th house will fall in 10th sign from ascending sign and will have the same longitude as that of the ascending point in Lagan. In this system M.C. is not considered as the Mid-point or cusp of 10th house. M.C. is however given prime-importance due to it and is widely used for many other important purposes.
Suppose Leo sign is rising. Then sign Cancer will adopt the qualities of 12th house. In varga charts
in whichever house ,sign Cancer will be placed it will impart induction of 12th house. The planet
may be in dignity in Cancer , but in this case , the planet so deposited in this sign , will be
some way or other will be attached to expenses. Say in D-24 chart, if a planet in good awastha
in cancer and this sign is placed in auspicious bhava , this planet will give good education ,
but in some way or the other , the native may have to spend lot of money or visit hospital ,
depending on other indications in the nativity.
Similarly , according to Kala-Purusha Kundle . Signs Taurus and Cancer will be considered
but to laser extent.
2nd house represent finance, face and speech. If sign Taurus is afflicted , the indications in these
respect will suffer.
In the binging , the learners should only consider second alternative. After getting little
more experience , the method of Kala-Purusha Should also be considered but on limited
scale.

Subject: Fw: [vedic-astrology] Imp Fundamental/Basic Question
Respected Goel sir,
had put across these questions in the forum and no one answered. As a student of astrology, unless the "sanshai parihar" does not happen or are the questions are not answered the mind is not at ease!! :) And till now (from the time i joined this forum), i see that only you can best put across in words the concepts with conviction and authority a sign that ma Saraswat ji has blessings on you, (There are no flattery remarks but a sincere observation :))
Sir, following are the questions:
All the rashi resemble\ correspond to the house characters of a "naisargik kundali" or Kal Purush's Kundali.
So can we attribute all characteristics/functionality represented by a particular house to the corresponding sign. Eg, can we safely say that 100% house functionality = the signs, like Capricorn = 10th house, and so on for other sign's vis a vis houses, in one simple sentence?
Secondly, what can be the weight-age percentage division that can be attributed for the placement of a particular planet in terms of sthana and rashi? A planet like Guru though exalted in karka but is in the 6th..so it takes a hit in terms of sthana, condescending the uccha effect..so it is obvious that sthna bala is more important than rashi, so may be60-40% ratio between sthna and rashi respectively?
Thirdly :Sign groupings (Airy,Watery,Fiery) vs planet nature- Eg, Ravi and mangal in meena. Fiery planets in watery sign, perhaps not a very harmonious position for fiery planets, but it is a shastra that ravi, mangal is considered "well placed" position in Meena, as Guru friendly planets..Pieces a compatible (friendly) sign for Ravi, mangal (which is shastra) but further ahead the watery nature doesn't provide the required edge for these "action" planets? Question arises, which rule overrides which one?
Lastly, for eg, if Meena falls in second, whilst 2nd is dhana (a powerful artha house), but as per my personal observation for me, rashi characters i.e sign Meena, have overrided the 2nd dhana position by being less materialistic a reverse 40-60 ratio (sthana-rashi respectively), i.e 12th house character in 2nd house?. (this is my observation only and till now not read in any book per se)
I would be happy if you can kindly enlighten/opinionate on these aspects.
Thanks and Regards,
Sanjay
